seeing beyond the finish line

Raising Cane

Children and adults with visual impairments are regularly excluded from athletic events.

Raising Cane is a non-profit organization that believes competition should be available to everyone, including people with vision impairment. Raising Cane encourages physical activity and competition for athletes with vision impairment. Raising Cane 5K is open to all community members and is tailored to the needs of athletes with vision impairment to encourage and support their participation. Athletes with visual impairments are paired with volunteer sighted guides from the local running community. Raising Cane works to increase awareness of these special athletes and develop enduring partnerships between them and their sighted peers.
