Vision
  • Increase public understanding of the nature and causes of vision impairment and its impact on individuals and society.
  • Promote physical recreation activities for all people with vision impairment.
  • Encourage all people with vision impairment to participate in physical recreation activities.
  • Assist in the development of athletic programs for all people with vision impairment.
  • Initiate and cooperate with other groups in the development of physical recreation activities for all people with vision impairments.

Mission

The mission of Raising Cane is to provide all possible assistance to the promotion, development, and improvement of physical recreation activities for persons with vision impairment of all ages.  

  • Raising Cane will provide competitive sporting events to encourage and enable people with vision impairment to participate and compete in these types of events with their sighted peers. 
    • Raising Cane 5K and A Walk in the Dark
  • Raising Cane will promote and provide funding for the organization of Annual Sport Camps for the visually impaired and blind children of North Carolina, based on Camp Abilities founded by Lauren Lieberman.

Use of Sponsorships, Donations, and Proceeds

Monies collected from Sponsorships, Donations, and Proceeds are used to to support Raising Cane's goals:

1) Provide funding to operate Camp Abilities North Carolina, a sports camp for children and teens with vision impairment. 


Your participation in the Raising Cane 5K Race will encourage and support athletes with visual impairment.  Make a difference by supporting people with visual impairments in North Carolina! 
 
Raising Cane’s slogan is Seeing Beyond the Finish Line. Raising Cane brings together all people for a common goal:  to raise awareness and support the visually impaired community throughout North Carolina.  Volunteers for this event are never turned away.  If you are interested in volunteering or making a contribution, please contact Daniel, the race director, at daniel@raisingcane.org.  Thank you for your support.  See you at the Finish Line!
